Primary Research into Music Video Demographics and Potential Target Audience

I created primary research in the form of a survey on SurveyMonkey to collect my own research based on music video demographics and a target audience. I wanted to find out which age groups thought what about music videos and what  their habits surrounding music videos. I used social media in the forms of Facebook and Twitter to collect responses as this would be better than collecting responses just from my media class as it is more general and could be more reflective of a stratified sample.
Posting to Facebook
By posting on social networks I have a better chance of collecting responses which will only help me to see how true the data I have collected is. I have a larger chance of collecting responses too than if I just emailed my survey link out.

I also added a poll to my blog:
I did this so I could collect fast responses to show what people think, The questions I asked were:
  • Which gender are you?
  • What is your age?
  • which genre produces your favourite music videos?
  • a narrative or abstract video?
  • what is the most important element for a music video?
I asked these questions as they provide a quick answer and can be easily understood. I can edit the poll to ask further more in depth questions when it comes to the filming and production to see what else the audience of my video would like to see. Whether that be on the choice of using certain elements such as black and white or slow mo for example.
